Podgórzyn is a rural municipality located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within the Karkonosze County, with its seat in the village of Podgórzyn. The municipality covers an area of 82.47 km², of which 37% is agricultural land and 51% is forested areas. The municipality includes villages such as Borowice, Głębock, Marczyce, Miłków, Przesieka, Sosnówka, Staniszów, Ścięgny, and Zachełmie. It borders the cities of Jelenia Góra, Karpacz, Kowary, and Mysłakowice, as well as the Czech Republic. Podgórzyn has its roots in the history of the region, which has long been associated with mountain craftsmanship and tourism. From 1975 to 1998, it belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship. In 2015, the municipality had 8,270 inhabitants, and by 2020, this number had slightly decreased to 8,262.
