wikipedia
Mokrsko, a village in the Łódź Voivodeship, in Wieluń County, serves as the administrative seat of the Gmina Mokrsko and is located along the major transportation route connecting Warsaw and Wrocław. The history of the settlement dates back to 1220, with the earliest mentions found in documents from Iwo Odrowąż, the Bishop of Krakow. During the Middle Ages, Mokrsko was owned by various noble families, with the Kożuchowski family playing a particularly significant role. The Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr, listed in the register of historical monuments, was built before 1520 and underwent several expansions in the 17th and 18th centuries, giving it distinctive Baroque features. The temple is admired for its polychrome paintings and richly decorated altars and pulpit. Mokrsko is also home to memorial sites, including a monument commemorating the January Uprising insurgents and another dedicated to soldiers who fell in the Polish-Bolshevik War. The village hosts the Collective Municipal School and a Community Self-Help Center. Mokrsko also takes pride in its sports traditions and the activities of the Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1912. The local economy is supported by a brick factory, founded in the 1920s, and historical remnants such as a windmill from 1890, which forms part of the local heritage. With its rich history and architecture, Mokrsko is an important point on the regional map, blending elements of culture, tradition, and community engagement.
