wikipedia
Mokrsko is a rural commune located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in Wieluń County. Its seat is in the village of Mokrsko, and the commune covers an area of 77.75 km², with a predominance of agricultural land (74%) and forests (18%). The commune is characterized by a linear settlement pattern, where houses are built along the main road. Traditional buildings were narrow-fronted and made of wood, while brick houses began to appear after World War II. The interiors of the cottages were decorated with crepe paper ornaments and religious paintings; aesthetics were particularly important, reflecting the solidity of the homeowners. The commune has preserved rich cultural traditions, and rural folk costumes underwent changes due to fashion influences, with a distinction between holiday and everyday attire. After the war, socio-cultural life began to develop through the activities of fire departments and women's organizations, such as rural housewives' circles and folk groups, including "Dworzanki" in Mokrsko. The commune library, established in 1945, and the Commune Cultural Center, opened in 1988, were key cultural institutions. The commune organizes various events, including recurring community gatherings, and collaborates with communes in Croatia in the fields of culture and tourism. Traditional brass bands and folk ensembles also contribute to the cultural life of the region. Throughout its history, Mokrsko has transformed into a dynamic hub that promotes local traditions and social solidarity while preserving its unique cultural heritage.
