The Museum of the Armed Deed in Krakow, located at osiedle Górali 23 in Nowa Huta, is a cultural institution run by the Małopolska Foundation Home of the Combatants of the Republic of Poland. Its history dates back to 1963, when, on the initiative of Antoni Dałkowski, the first exhibition titled "HiL Employees in the Fights for People's Poland" was organized. The museum collects exhibits donated by employees of the Lenin Steelworks and combatants who fought in various conflicts such as the Polish Legions, the Greater Poland Uprising, the Silesian Uprisings, the Polish-Bolshevik War, and World War II. In 1979, the building underwent a renovation that included the addition of a second floor with a large hall featuring a mosaic by Helena Trzebiatowska. In front of the museum stands a historical monument—an IS-2 tank that took part in the battles of World War II. Aiming to preserve the memory of Poland's history, the museum was taken over by the Home Army Museum in Krakow in 2022. The museum's collections include around 3,000 exhibits, including various types of weapons, uniforms of Polish and Soviet soldiers, orders and medals, as well as wartime documents. An interesting fact is the presence of 21 combat organization banners, including the banner of the Polish Legions, and urns containing ashes from battlefields, highlighting the tragic events of World War II and the devastation of the population. The museum plays an important role in the cultural landscape of Nowa Huta, serving as a place of remembrance for the struggle and sacrifice of many Poles.
