District XVIII Nowa Huta

District XVIII Nowa Huta, an auxiliary unit of the Kraków municipality, is the largest district of Kraków in terms of area. Until 1990, it was part of the larger Nowa Huta district, and currently, its chairman is Mariusz Woda, who leads the District Council and Board in the 9th term of 2023–2028. Nowa Huta, designed as an ideal city, combines socialist realist architecture with elements of modernism. The district is characterized by monumental buildings, often made of brick and concrete, which reflect the ambitions of socialist Poland in the 1950s.
