Museum of the Poznań Bambry

The Museum of the Poznań Bambrzy, located in Poznań at Mostowa Street on Grobla, is an institution dedicated to the culture and history of the Poznań Bambrzy community. Built on the initiative of the Society of Poznań Bambrzy and Professor Maria Paradowska, the museum was opened in November 2003, despite initial difficulties related to debt owed to the construction contractor. It currently serves as the headquarters of the Society and is also listed in the register of ministerial museums, highlighting its importance for the protection of cultural heritage. The museum boasts a rich exhibition, featuring approximately 1,500 exhibits, including collections gathered by the society and family deposits from the Poznań Bambrzy. The permanent exhibition includes an original 19th-century Bambrzy house, showcasing the traditions and way of life of this community. Architecturally, the museum building harmoniously blends into its surroundings, cooperating with the neighboring Museum of Ethnography. On the square in front of the museum stands the Chapel of the Sorrowful Christ, erected in 2003 and consecrated by the Archbishop of Poznań. The chapel, inspired by the history of former Bambrzy chapels, is an example of local heritage and cultural traditions. The chapel was funded by the company Posbau S.A., which also constructed the museum building. Inside the chapel is a sculpture of the Sorrowful Christ by Krzysztof Jakubik, adding a spiritual dimension to this place. The Museum of the Poznań Bambrzy plays an important role in both education and the promotion of local history, serving as a bridge between the past and the present and contributing to the preservation of the region's unique culture.
