wikipedia
The Museum of the Sorrowful Christ Figures in Jeżowe, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, is a unique cultural institution in Poland. It houses a rich collection of religious sculptures and paintings, with a particular emphasis on depictions of the Sorrowful Christ. Its founder, Father Ludwik Bielawski, served as the parish priest at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Jeżowe from 1958 to 1994 and was responsible for gathering the majority of the exhibits. The museum is situated in the oldest brick building in the Jeżowe municipality, constructed in 1823. In the 1990s, the building was transformed from its original purpose as a folk art repository into a museum facility, and between 2009 and 2010, it underwent modernization to take on its current form as the Museum of the Sorrowful Christ Figures. Interestingly, the museum is the only institution in Poland dedicated exclusively to this theme, making it a unique destination for both tourists and researchers of religious art.
