wikipedia
The Museum of the Greater Poland Uprising 1918–1919, located in Poznań in the Odwach building at Stary Rynek 3, is a branch of the Greater Poland Museum of Independence. The museum was established on the site of the Museum of the History of the Workers' Movement, which had existed since 1961, and its aim is to document the outbreak and course of the Greater Poland Uprising as well as the independence process of Greater Poland from the first half of the 19th century to the end of the interwar period. The museum's exhibition includes rich iconographic collections, such as photographs, drawings, paintings, and sculptures, as well as documents, uniforms, militaria, banners, and decorations, which were made available to visitors on December 18, 2001. The permanent exhibition is characterized by a modern approach to presenting history, using multimedia, which makes it attractive to various audience groups. In 2005, the museum received the "Dobosz Powstania Wielkopolskiego" statuette in recognition of its merits in commemorating and promoting the history of the uprising. Architecturally, the Odwach building, erected in the Old Market Square, fits into the historical context of Poznań, having witnessed many important events in the city's history. The museum not only plays a historical role but also a cultural one, engaging the local community in commemorating national heritage. Interestingly, its collections are regularly updated, allowing for continuous expansion of knowledge about the Greater Poland Uprising.
