wikipedia
The Museum of Writing and Printing in Grębocin, founded in 2004 by Dariusz Subocz, is located in a historic, former Evangelical church of St. Barbara from the 13th century, built by the Teutonic Knights. In the 16th century, the church passed into the hands of the Evangelical community, and after World War II, it fell into ruin. Attempts in the 1960s and 1970s to convert it into a library were unsuccessful, and the deterioration continued. It was not until 1998 that the building became privately owned, which allowed for comprehensive renovation and adaptation work, leading to the creation of the museum. The museum's permanent exhibition focuses on interactive workshops related to writing, papermaking, and printing, featuring replicas and original exhibits from Poland and Europe, including a replica of Gutenberg's press. The museum offers workshops for children, youth, and adults, guiding participants through the history of writing materials and calligraphy techniques. Visitors can also make their own paper by hand and receive participation certificates, which are printed on a 19th-century printing press housed in the museum. The museum stands out for its rich educational achievements, engaging visitors in the process of learning about writing, making it a unique destination on Poland's cultural map.
