wikipedia
Łuk Mużakowa Landscape Park, also known as Muskauer Faltenbogen, is a unique area in the Lubusz Voivodeship, established to protect a terminal moraine formed during the Middle Polish glaciation. It has a horseshoe shape, 40 km long and 3–5 km wide, and its uniqueness is documented by the fact that it is the only terminal moraine visible from space. The highest points in the park reach 182.8 meters above sea level and are the result of natural denivelations of up to 100 meters. The park, rich in natural, cultural, and historical values, is located in the border zone with Germany. In the past, it was intensively exploited by humans, which is visible in numerous anthropogenic ponds and remnants of lignite mining. Łuk Mużakowa also includes areas of Upper and Lower Lusatia, with the Lusatian Neisse as its central point, dividing the park into two parts. Within the park, there is the "Nad Młyńską Strugą" nature reserve, as well as 4 ecological sites and 17 natural monuments. The park is part of the Natura 2000 network, highlighting its importance in biodiversity conservation. In 2011, Łuk Mużakowa received the European Geopark certificate and is the only geopark in Poland that belongs to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. It is a place that combines not only unique geological values but also a rich cultural heritage, making it one of the most fascinating natural areas in Poland and Europe.
