Napoleon's Well, located west of Pożegowo in the Mosina district within the Wielkopolski National Park, is an intriguing site of architectural, cultural, and historical significance. Situated on the slope of the Pożegowska Moraine, near the Osowa Góra railway station, it once served as an important point along the historic trade route connecting Poznań with Prussia and France. Legend has it that during his journey to Moscow in 1812, Napoleon Bonaparte stopped near the well and sent an aide to fetch water, which supposedly tasted like champagne. This phenomenon is said to occur once a year at an unknown time. However, some sources suggest similar events may have taken place as early as 1806 or 1807. Restored to use on August 18, 2012, the well was renovated in an 18th/19th-century style, complete with a wooden roof, emphasizing its historical character. Additionally, it is one of the stops along the Professor Adam Wodziczko Educational Trail, and a commemorative boulder honoring this distinguished professor stands nearby, further enhancing the cultural value of the location. Napoleon's Well not only attracts visitors with its unique architecture but also enriches local history and legends, making it a valuable part of the region's cultural heritage.
