wikipedia
The NH Poznań Hotel, also known historically as Reichshof, Continental, and Wielkopolska, is a stunning Art Nouveau building constructed in 1910 at 67 Święty Marcin Street in Poznań. It was built on the site of the demolished German House (Dom Niemiecki) and quickly became one of the city's most prominent hotels. The investors were Georg Wagner, the publisher of the newspaper *Posener Neueste Nachrichten*, and Gustav Haase, while the building was designed by the architect Hans Uhl. Featuring 100 rooms, an elevator, a White Hall (Biała Sala), a garden, and a beer hall, the hotel stood out with its classical architectural details, rusticated lower floors, striking bay windows, and intricate perforated lanterns. Its design harmonized perfectly with the elegant tenement houses lining Święty Marcin Street. After World War I, the hotel was acquired by Count Stanisław Turno and renamed Continental. Although it survived World War II unscathed, it was nationalized in the postwar period and rebranded as Hotel Wielkopolska. In the 21st century, the NH Hotel Group took over the property and conducted a comprehensive renovation in collaboration with Spanish architect Alberto Iglesias Álvarez, restoring its prewar interior layout. The NH Poznań holds the distinction of being the first NH hotel in Poland, further cementing its importance on the city’s cultural and historical map.
