wikipedia
Niekrasów is a village located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in Staszów County, within the administrative district of Osiek. The settlement boasts a rich history dating back to medieval times, and its name is derived from the Old Polish term "krasny." Niekrasów was known for its wooden church dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the second half of the 17th century and listed in the register of historical monuments. The interior of the church and the belfry, also under conservation protection, retain many decorative elements from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Other historical landmarks include the parish cemetery, a monument honoring the fallen, and an avenue of ash trees whose history traces back to royal trade routes. Niekrasów was once the site of significant historical events, such as the battle against the Tatars in 1241, and served as the home of Adam Bień, a member of the Polish Underground State. In the 19th century, the village flourished, featuring a school, a shelter for the poor, and numerous residents engaged in agriculture and crafts. Today, Niekrasów is renowned not only for its rich history but also for the tourist trails that pass through it, including the Pilgrimage Route of Wooden Architecture. The village has preserved its traditions and architectural heritage, making it an intriguing destination for both tourists and history researchers.
