Nowa Ruda is a rural municipality located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within Kłodzko County, situated in the heart of the Central Sudetes. The municipality comprises 17 villages, including Bartnica, Dzikowiec, and Przygórze. It has a rich history dating back to 1945 when the municipality of Przygórze was established. After numerous administrative changes, village incorporations, and the dissolution of smaller territorial units, the current boundaries of the municipality were finalized in 1976. Geographically, the area is diverse, with agricultural land covering 50% of its territory and forests accounting for 41%. It occupies 8.5% of Kłodzko County's total area, spanning 139.67 km². Approximately 11,000 people live here, representing 7.3% of the county's population. Nowa Ruda borders municipalities such as Bielawa, Dzierżoniów, and Głuszyca, and also shares a border with the Czech Republic. Local governance is structured around a municipal council elected every five years, with the mayor serving as the executive authority. Since 2014, the mayor has been Adrianna Mierzejewska. The municipality is open to international cooperation and maintains partnerships with several foreign communes, including Broumov in the Czech Republic and Castrop-Rauxel in Germany. Nowa Ruda is also rich in traditions and culture, reflected in its local events and community activities. Its stunning landscape and scenic location attract tourists, making it an area with high potential for the development of tourism and local culture.
