Nowa Słupia is an urban-rural municipality in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, located in the Kielce County, with its administrative seat in Nowa Słupia. The municipality was formed from various earlier administrative units, including the Baszowice commune and the Słupia Nowa commune. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Kielce Voivodeship. According to data from June 2004, the municipality had a population of approximately 9,735 residents. Nowa Słupia is known for hosting the annual Świętokrzyskie Dymarki (Holy Cross Iron Smelting Festival), which attracts tourists interested in the traditional iron smelting method dating back over 2,000 years. With an area of 85.94 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 28% is forest, the municipality occupies 3.82% of Kielce County. The municipality includes numerous villages, such as Bartoszowiny, Baszowice, Stara Słupia, and others, which contribute to its diverse social and cultural landscape. Neighboring municipalities include Bieliny, Bodzentyn, Łagów, Pawłów, and Waśniów, fostering regional cooperation and integration.
