Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą is an urban-rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, located in the Grójec County. Until 1954, it was known as the Góra Commune. The administrative seat is in Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą, and between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Radom Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 158.47 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 22% is forested. According to data from June 30, 2004, the population was 8,381 people. The municipality includes numerous villages (sołectwa) such as Bełek, Borowina, Dąbrowa-Józefów, and many others, as well as smaller settlements without village status, like Czerwona Karczma or Waliska. It borders municipalities such as Cielądz, Klwów, Mogielnica, Odrzywół, Rzeczyca, Sadkowice, and Wyśmierzyce. From a historical perspective, the region has its roots in the Middle Ages, which is reflected in its architecture, characterized by rural buildings and a few historic structures. Although Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą is not particularly known for its rich cultural heritage, the municipality attracts tourists due to its beautiful natural landscapes, ideal for outdoor activities.
