Nowy Tomyśl is an urban-rural municipality located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Nowy Tomyśl County, with the town of Nowy Tomyśl serving as its administrative seat. Historically, the municipality was part of the Poznań Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. In 2022, the municipality had a population of 27,194, reflecting an increase compared to the 24,033 residents recorded in 2004. The municipality covers an area of 185.89 km², of which 57% is agricultural land and 33% is forested. In 2021, Nowy Tomyśl achieved second place in the nationwide ranking "Gmina dobra do życia" (A Good Municipality to Live In), highlighting the high quality of life for its residents.
