Opatówek is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Kalisz County, with its administrative seat located in Opatówek. According to data from January 1, 2018, the municipality had a population of 10,856, making it the largest municipality in Kalisz County. Covering an area of 104.27 km², its location in the southeastern part of Greater Poland, on the Kalisz Upland, near the administrative border of Kalisz, makes the region both picturesque and well-connected in terms of transportation. Opatówek boasts a rich history, as during the era of the Kingdom of Poland, it belonged to the Kalisz County in the Kalisz Governorate. The town lost its municipal rights in 1870 but regained them on January 1, 2017. The mayor of the municipality is Sebastian Wardęcki, who has held this position since 2006. Architecturally, Opatówek takes pride in its diverse buildings, which reflect the historical and cultural heritage of the region. The municipality is also characterized by an interesting population age pyramid and ongoing infrastructure development. In 2017, there were 1,162 registered business entities in the municipality, and the municipal income per capita was 4,466 PLN.
