wikipedia
Osieczna is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, located in the Leszno County, with the town of Osieczna serving as its administrative seat. Historically, from 1975 to 1998, the municipality was part of the former Leszno Voivodeship. It covers an area of 128.73 km², which constitutes 16% of the total area of the county. The land use is predominantly agricultural (64%) and forested (23%). As of March 31, 2011, the municipality had a population of 8,880 residents. Data from June 2004 indicates that a significant portion of the population settled in villages such as Kąkolewo, which is the largest settlement despite not having town rights. The municipality of Osieczna boasts a rich structure of villages, including Dobramyśl, Grodzisko, and Witosław. Among the lesser-known localities are Adamowo, Górka, and Nowe Wolkowo, which add to the rural charm of the local landscape. An appealing aspect of the municipality is its architectural heritage, featuring traditional rural buildings and churches that historically reflect regional traditions. Osieczna is also culturally diverse, as evidenced by local events, festivals, and traditions cherished by its inhabitants. The municipality borders other communes such as Krzemieniewo, Krzywiń, Leszno, and Śmigiel, fostering regional cooperation in culture and tourism. Interestingly, although Kąkolewo is a village, it enjoys popularity as a forest settlement and is frequently visited by tourists and locals alike. Osieczna Municipality has much to offer both in terms of archaeological and cultural heritage, as well as natural attractions, making it an interesting destination on the map of Greater Poland.
