wikipedia
Otrębusy is a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Pruszków County, serving as the seat of the Roman Catholic parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. Its history dates back to the 15th century, with the first mentions of the settlement appearing in court records. Otrębusy were likely established in the early 14th century. The village's name, varied in historical records, has cultural roots linked to the activities of its founders. In the 19th century, the village was not particularly prominent; however, at the beginning of the 20th century, plans emerged to develop a health resort here. Otrębusy gained significance after 1948, when the State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble "Mazowsze" was established in Karolin, which remains its home to this day. In 1985, a parish was established, and the new church was consecrated in 1999. In the 21st century, Otrębusy lost their agricultural character, with most residents now working in Warsaw. The village boasts numerous cultural institutions, including museums: the Museum of Polish Folk Art, the Museum of Motorization and Technology, and a museum dedicated to the "Mazowsze" ensemble. Notable historical landmarks include an 18th-century granary, the Karolin Palace, and the Toeplitzówka Palace and Park Complex. The village has well-developed infrastructure, including schools, healthcare facilities, and public transportation, with access to the WKD commuter rail and PKS bus services. Otrębusy are rich in interesting facts related to figures who influenced their development, such as Tadeusz Sygietyński, the founder of "Mazowsze," and ethnographer Marian Pokropek.
