Paczków is an urban-rural municipality in the Opole Voivodeship, located in Nysa County. The administrative seat of the municipality is the town of Paczków. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to a different voivodeship, but it is currently part of the Opole Voivodeship. According to demographic data, the municipality had a population of 13,828 in 2004, which decreased to 12,535 residents by 2019. The municipality covers an area of 79.7 km², of which 83% is agricultural land and only 1% is forested. The municipality constitutes 6.51% of the area of Nysa County. It includes numerous villages such as Dziewiętlice, Frydrychów, Gościce, Kamienica, Kozielno, Lisie Kąty, Stary Paczków, Ścibórz, Trzeboszowice, Ujeździec, Unikowice, and Wilamowa. Paczków is known for its rich history, which is reflected in its architecture, particularly in the preserved buildings and infrastructure that exemplify the regional style. The municipality borders the Czech Republic, which influences its culture and traditions, enriching them with Czech elements. Notably, Paczków is often referred to as the "Polish Carcassonne" due to its well-preserved defensive walls and distinctive architecture. The town also attracts tourists with its numerous cultural events and historical monuments that reflect local traditions and history.
