wikipedia
Parciaki, a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, Przasnysz County, with a rich history dating back to the second half of the 17th century, is located in the picturesque Zielona (Green) Forest. The name of the village may derive from a coarse hemp or linen fabric known as *part*, which was worn by its inhabitants. The village has undergone numerous administrative changes, having been part of various starosties, departments, and voivodeships. In 1867, it became part of the Jednorożec municipality, where it remains to this day. Parciaki was known for its vibrant beekeeping history, with residents enjoying beekeeping privileges linked to local duties and cooperation with neighboring villages such as Jednorożec. Records show that the village had 33 houses in 1815, and by 1921, the population had grown to 416. During the interwar period, Parciaki saw infrastructure development, including the construction of a narrow-gauge railway and a wooden church. In 1933, further investments took place, such as the relocation of a windmill from Krasnosielc, and the establishment of a Volunteer Fire Department in 1929. During World War II, the village was a center of resistance activity, and in 1947, a school was organized in the organist’s house. In later years, Parciaki gained a new brick school, which began operations in 1971. Today, the village is the seat of the Roman Catholic parish of St. Stanislaus. In 2014, the Public Primary School was established in Parciaki, and the village also has an active "Neighbors" Association, several shops, and a post office. Characteristic of Parciaki are its wooden houses, which reflect the patterns of the Green Kurpie region, as well as numerous examples of small sacral architecture, such as roadside crosses and chapels. In 2019, an outdoor exhibition titled "Parciaki Parish in Photography" was held, showcasing the cultural continuity and the residents' care for local history. With its long history, distinctive architecture, and living traditions, Parciaki remains a unique place in the region.
