The sculpture "Peacock" by Anna Krzymańska is located in Karol Marcinkowski Park in Poznań, where it blends into the space between the street and the park's pond. The work, depicting a peacock accompanied by a little girl, was created as a result of a competition for a park sculpture organized in 1961 as part of the Greater Poland Cultural Festival. Krzymańska won the first prize, and the sculpture was officially unveiled in 1962. Over the years, due to wear and tear, the original concrete structure began to deteriorate, prompting the city authorities to undertake restoration efforts in 2006. It was decided to recreate the work, this time in bronze, a task entrusted to Benedykt Kasznia, who reconstructed the sculpture based on the original. The new casting was produced at Studio Szymanowo, and the sculpture was mounted on a prepared pedestal under Krzymańska's supervision. The restoration costs amounted to 55,000 złoty, and the project was part of broader revitalization works in Marcinkowski Park. The "Peacock" sculpture is an important cultural element of Poznań, highlighting both its artistic heritage and its commitment to preserving public spaces.
