Miejsce Piastowe is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within Krosno County, boasting a rich history dating back to the Paleolithic era. The first mention of the settlement, then called "Mesczce," comes from 1358, and its name evolved over the centuries, settling as "Miejsce" and adopting the adjective "Piastowe" in 1897, alluding to nurturing and upbringing. The village is the seat of both the municipality and a Roman Catholic deanery, and its northern location within the Krosno Functional Urban Area ensures excellent transport links. Important communication routes intersect at the center of the locality. Miejsce Piastowe is home to historic buildings, such as the late 19th-century Parish Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church of St. Michael the Archangel along with the Michalite monastery, which houses the Museum of Blessed Bronisław Markiewicz. The architectural heritage of the village is further enriched by the former Trzecieski manor house and a Confederation shrine. Miejsce Piastowe is also an important center of religious worship, known for the Sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel, where pilgrimages and Fatima devotions take place. The village's history is marked by the significant participation of its inhabitants in national uprisings, including the Bar Confederation and the November Uprising. Blessed Father Bronisław Markiewicz, the founder of the Michalite order, had a major impact on the social and educational development of the region, establishing schools for orphans and educational institutions. Fires and cholera epidemics shaped local living conditions, and during World War II, Miejsce Piastowe was a site of clandestine resistance activity. Miejsce Piastowe is not only a village with a rich cultural heritage but also a dynamically developing community with modern facilities and infrastructure, including a Retail Park. Famous residents, such as Blessed Father Bronisław Markiewicz and Anna Kaworek, have influenced the cultural and religious life of the region, while local legends and traditions underscore the village's rich history.
