The municipality of Pleśna, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the Tarnów district, has a rich history dating back to 1935, when the first collective municipality was established. It consisted of 12 villages, and its first mayor was Bronisław Kubicz, a legionnaire awarded the Virtuti Militari Cross. With its seat in Pleśna, the municipality underwent numerous administrative changes, including the dissolution of collective municipalities in 1954 in favor of smaller administrative units called gromady. In 1973, the current collective municipality was established, encompassing villages such as Dąbrówka Szczepanowska, Janowice, and Lubinka. The municipality covers an area of 83.65 km², of which 59% is agricultural land and 29% is forested. It constitutes 5.91% of the area of the Tarnów district. Pleśna is a place where rural traditions have been preserved, along with interesting architectural objects related to the region's history. Demographically, the municipality features diverse age groups, making it a dynamic area that simultaneously maintains its local traditions and culture. It is also worth highlighting the efforts aimed at developing the local community and integrating its residents.
