wikipedia
The Pleszew Regional Museum is an institution with a rich history dating back to 1912, when the first historical and ethnographic exhibits were presented at the Industrial Exhibition. The museum operated from 1918 to 1939, with its first location in a school on Sienkiewicza Street. After a hiatus caused by World War II, which led to the disappearance of the collections, the idea of the museum was revived in the 1960s. At that time, the National Museum in Poznań established the Regional Museum of the Pleszew Land in Gołuchów, which operated until the building was handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1976, the Pleszew local government purchased a 19th-century building where the museum was organized. Opened in October 1983 to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the city, the museum was entrusted to the Pleszew Cultural Society, which collected exhibits and organized exhibitions. Architecturally, the museum is housed in a historic building that once served as a postal inn, adding to its unique character. The institution features a permanent archaeological exhibition titled "From the Prehistory of Pleszew and Its Surroundings," as well as the largest collection of works by Marian Bogusz. The museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions on history and art, and conducts archaeological excavations in and around Pleszew. An interesting fact is that admission to the museum is paid, except on Saturdays, which encourages the local community to visit. The museum is an important part of Pleszew's cultural landscape, combining elements of architecture, history, and art.
