Pleszew County, established in 1999 in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, has its seat in the town of Pleszew. The history of the county dates back to 1818, when it was created by decree of the Prussian King Frederick William III. During the interwar period, it existed from 1919 to 1932, and after World War II, it was re-established on January 1, 1956, in the Poznań Voivodeship. The county, initially comprising one town and 22 village districts, underwent several administrative changes over the years until the 1999 reform, which restored its current structure and reinstated many former municipalities. In the architectural landscape of Pleszew, religious buildings such as churches stand out as integral elements of the local scenery. Culturally, Pleszew County preserves folk traditions and organizes various regional events that promote local culture and crafts. According to 2020 demographic data, the county has a population of 62,962, with a very low unemployment rate of just 3.5%, reflecting the region's stable economic situation. It is also worth noting that the county borders several others, facilitating cultural and economic exchange. Since 1999, the county heads (starosts) have included Edward Kubisz and Michał Karalus, with Maciej Wasielewski currently holding the position.
