wikipedia
Połoń is a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, in Przasnysz County, within the administrative district of Gmina Jednorożec. It boasts a rich history dating back to the 15th century. The name of the locality likely originates from the barren sands and forest clearings (halizny) found in the area. Over the centuries, Połoń changed its administrative affiliation, being part of the Ciechanów and Przasnysz starostwos, and at various times, it was incorporated into the Duchy of Warsaw and the Kingdom of Poland. In the 19th century, the land was parcelled out among peasants as part of the enfranchisement process. Połoń features wooden houses, including examples of interwar architecture, as well as numerous elements of small sacral architecture, with the most valued statue of St. John of Nepomuk. The village is considered to be on the border of the Green Kurpie region; cultural influences of the Kurpie people have been adopted here, such as traditional costumes and wedding customs. In the 19th and 20th centuries, folklore research was conducted in Połoń, and recordings of folk songs have been preserved in the collections of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1994, the Roman Catholic Parish of the Risen Christ was established in the village. Currently, Połoń has an active Rural Housewives' Circle, and the village administrator (sołtys) is Józef Deptuła. The village is surrounded by beautiful nature, and its history and traditions are cherished by the local community.
