The Polanów Municipality, located in the northeastern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Koszalin County, is an area rich in history and diverse architecture. The seat of the municipality is the town of Polanów, which was historically established after World War II. The municipality has undergone various administrative boundary changes, going through multiple stages of reorganization, with its current shape established in 1973. Geographically, the municipality lies on the Polanów Upland and the Bytów Lakeland, making it a naturally attractive area with numerous rivers, lakes, and forests covering 55% of its territory. The municipality also includes a subzone of the Słupsk Special Economic Zone, which fosters economic development. Polanów Municipality is not only home to 8,867 residents (as of the end of 2016) but also boasts rich cultural resources. It features numerous historical monuments, including churches, manor parks, and palaces from various eras, such as the manor park in Bożenice or the 18th-century church in Garbno. Additionally, newly built tourist trails and nature reserves attract outdoor enthusiasts. The municipality comprises 81 localities, including numerous villages and settlements, highlighting its diverse structure. Despite administrative reforms, the municipality has preserved its unique character, blending tradition with modernity.
