Polish Aviators Park

Park Lotników Polskich in Kraków, formerly known as the Park of Culture and Recreation, boasts a rich history and numerous interesting architectural and cultural elements. Located in District XIV Czyżyny, it covers an area of 43.06 hectares and is divided into two parts, separated by John Paul II Avenue. Within the park, there are famous monuments such as "In Honor of Polish Airmen Fallen in the Years 1939–1945" by Bronisław Chromy and "Glory to the Airmen" from the 1970s. The park's history dates back to the 1950s when the Park of Culture and Recreation was planned as a link between the city center of Kraków and Nowa Huta. The first part of the park was completed in the 1960s, and in 1989, its name was changed to the current one. The southern part of the park features open spaces, while the northern part is densely wooded. In addition to recreational attractions such as a new skatepark and the Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiences, the park offers numerous walking paths and a playground. The park's nature stands out with its diverse flora and fauna, including various bird species, making it a place for relaxation and communion with nature. An interesting fact is that the park was built on former fortification grounds, and its architecture was developed in collaboration with residents and students, which contributes to its unique character.
