wikipedia
The Firefighting Museum in Przeworsk, established in 1974, collects exhibits related to the history of firefighting in the Przeworsk region. It is housed in historic carriage stables and the coachman's house, which are part of the park in Przeworsk. The museum began its operations after organizing an exhibition of firefighting equipment in 1956 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Volunteer Fire Department. A key figure in this endeavor was the regionalist Leon Trybalski, who contributed to the enrichment of the collections. The museum's exhibition focuses on the history of firefighting in the region and Lesser Poland from the mid-19th century. The collections include valuable exhibits such as various fire engines: a four-wheeled horse-drawn engine, two-wheeled manual engines, and a one-wheeled "wheelbarrow" engine. Many of these devices come from renowned manufacturers like W. M. Knaust or Unia Strażacka, and some of the oldest wooden and brass pumps were used as early as the 14th century. The museum also features various fire trucks, alarm equipment, hoses, as well as a collection of firefighting attire, including combat uniforms and helmets. Particularly interesting is the collection of officers' ceremonial helmets from the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibition is enriched by documents and photographs showcasing the activities of the local fire department. The museum not only presents firefighting equipment but also plays a significant role in preserving the local history and culture related to firefighting. Renovations of the exhibition spaces carried out in 1990 and 1996 gave the museum a modern character, and its collections are an important part of the region's cultural heritage.
