Pszczyna

Pszczyna is an urban-rural municipality located in the Silesian Voivodeship, within Pszczyna County. The municipal seat is in the town of Pszczyna, and its total area is 174.01 km², dominated by agricultural land (56%) and forests (29%). The municipality comprises 12 villages, including Brzeźce and Czarków, and features specialized transport services such as a private helicopter landing site. According to data from December 31, 2021, Pszczyna has a population of 50,616 people. The municipality has a rich history, having been established as the collective rural gmina of Pszczyna-Wieś in December 1945. It has undergone numerous territorial changes, including transformations and mergers with neighboring municipalities. In 1992, the urban and rural municipalities were merged, and in 1998, several villages were reincorporated into the municipality of Pszczyna. Pszczyna is also distinguished by its rich architectural heritage, including historic buildings and parks. A key landmark is the Pszczyna Castle, an example of Renaissance architecture surrounded by a beautiful park that attracts tourists from across the country. The municipality is also known for its many cultural events, such as festivals, concerts, and local traditions, which contribute to its unique character. An interesting fact is that between 1975 and 1997, villages such as Brzeźce, Ćwiklice, and Łąka were previously districts of Pszczyna, reflecting the continuous development and dynamic changes within the municipality.
