wikipedia
The PTTK "Srebrny Potok" Shelter in Jarkowice is an accommodation facility located in the picturesque valley of Biały Strumień (White Stream), on the eastern slopes of the Karkonosze's Lasocki Ridge. The buildings of the shelter, erected in the 1920s, served various purposes; after World War II, they were used by the Border Protection Troops until 1948, after which they were handed over to the Polish Scouting Association, which, however, quickly vacated the facility. For several years, the buildings stood unused, leading to their deterioration. Interest in the facility was shown by geologists searching for uranium in the Lasocki Ridge area, which resulted in an agreement with the Gromada National Council. In 1956, the PTTK Branch at the Polish Academy of Sciences Institutes in Wrocław opened the shelter, which to this day is managed by this institution. The shelter offers 50 sleeping places in rooms for two to six people, but it does not have a buffet, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. The facility is an attractive destination for tourists, especially for hiking enthusiasts, offering trails through the beautiful areas of the Karkonosze, such as the route to Kowary or Lubawka. The "Srebrny Potok" Shelter combines historical, architectural, and cultural elements, bearing witness to the changes that have taken place in the region over the decades. Today, it is a popular destination for tourist expeditions, encouraging visitors to explore the beauty of the Karkonosze landscapes.
