wikipedia
The Rawicz municipality, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship within Rawicz County, boasts a rich history dating back to the years 1934–1954, when it existed as a rural commune. It was formed through the merger of individual village communes and manor areas, and after World War II, it retained its administrative affiliation. However, the commune was abolished in 1954 as part of an administrative reform, and its reestablishment took place in 1976, when the name of the Sierakowo commune was changed to Rawicz. In 1992, the town and the commune were merged into a single entity. From 1976 to 1998, the commune was part of the Leszno Voivodeship, and since 1999 it has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 133.64 km², of which 74% is agricultural land and 17% is forested, highlighting its agricultural character. It is a pleasure to visit places such as Dąbrówka, Izbice, and Zielona Wieś, which are part of the local culture. According to demographic data, in 2004 the commune was inhabited by 29,297 people, and by the end of 2017, this number had increased to 30,287. The municipality is surrounded by neighboring communes: Bojanowo, Miejska Górka, Milicz, Pakosław, Wąsosz, and Żmigród. This place combines a rich history with beautiful natural landscapes that reflect the traditions of Greater Poland's agriculture and architecture. Interestingly, despite earlier reforms and administrative transformations, the Rawicz commune has preserved its identity, serving as a place where the past intertwines with the present.
