wikipedia
The Regional Chamber in Śliwnica is a museum and educational institution established in the early 1990s on the initiative of Danuta Śliwińska. Its purpose was to preserve local history, reflected in the exhibits of handicrafts and everyday objects. It is housed in an adapted room of a former school built during the Austrian Partition, which adds an additional architectural context. In 1994, the Chamber gained the status of a regional institution, and since then, thanks to donations from residents of the Dubiecko municipality and surrounding areas, its collection has grown to over 1,000 exhibits. The Chamber features a variety of items related to crafts, such as carpentry, blacksmithing, baking, and weaving tools, as well as exhibits related to education during the interwar period and works by local artists. Among the most interesting objects are looms, querns, and a threshing machine. Educational paths are also available, including baking and weaving, with the weaving path being particularly important due to the unique looms, which are among the few of their kind in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. In 2008, weaving workshops titled "From a Grain to a Cloth" were organized, with 411 participants. The Regional Chamber serves as a local cultural center, hosting numerous events such as bonfires, embroidery competitions, and handcraft contests. It is regularly visited by school students, as well as domestic and international tourists. Danuta Śliwińska, as the caretaker of the exhibits and a guide, has continuously shaped the Chamber's offerings throughout its existence, making it an important landmark on the cultural map of the region.
