The Regional Museum of the Municipal Cultural Center in Mielec is an important cultural institution whose history dates back to 1964, when it was established on the initiative of the Society of Lovers of the Mielec Region. Over the years, the museum has changed locations, initially housed in the building of the former County Council, then moving to the premises of the Civil Registry Office and the Oborski Manor. The architecture of these buildings, especially the manor on Legionów Street, has been adapted for museum purposes while striving to preserve the historical character of the building. This facility serves as the main headquarters of the museum, where exhibits related to the history of Mielec and the region are displayed.
The museum houses a rich collection of artifacts, including a copy of the city's founding document from the 16th century, an edition of Jakub Wujek's Bible from 1599, archaeological collections such as mammoth bones and flint tools, as well as a collection of paintings by renowned artists, including Wojciech Kossak. Also fascinating is the collection of memorabilia of Władysław Żurawski, a distinguished woodcut artist.
The museum organizes temporary exhibitions on a variety of themes, including archaeology, natural history, and the history of the city and region. In the Dom Jadernych, the museum displays a unique collection of antique photography and photographic equipment, which adds an interesting thread related to technology and art.
The museum is open year-round, except on Sundays, and admission to the exhibitions is paid, with free entry on Saturdays, encouraging visits to this important cultural institution.
