wikipedia
Góra Ropczycka is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the municipality of Sędziszów Małopolski, with a rich history dating back to the 13th/14th century when it was established under Polish or German law. In 1614, it became the seat of the Ropczyce starostwo, and during the Austrian period, it served as the municipal center. The village is situated on a hill, surrounded by the Budzisz and Gnojnica rivers. Góra Ropczycka is home to the Parish of St. James the Apostle, which belongs to the Sędziszów Małopolski deanery. Among its architectural landmarks are an 18th-century manor house with single-story extensions added in 1938, and the ruins of barracks built in 1866 for the Krakus regiment. Also noteworthy is the Starzeński family’s neo-Gothic tomb chapel, featuring the Lis coat of arms, and the parish church, which houses valuable works of sacred art. From a historical perspective, Góra Ropczycka was the site of significant events, particularly those involving noble families such as the Starzyńskis and Potockis. An interesting local legend tells of a well known as the "well of torment," where convicts were once thrown. The village is also an important tourist destination, featuring the "Buczyna" park, created by the Starzeński family, which has been restored and now serves as a place for walks and nature education. The tourism and gastronomy offerings include an inn, a pizzeria, and a delicatessen network, making Góra Ropczycka an attractive place to visit.
