The Rutki Commune, located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship within the Zambrów County, boasts rich natural and historical values. Its administrative seat is Rutki-Kossaki. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Łomża Voivodeship, and as of June 30, 2004, it was inhabited by 6,144 residents. The commune spans an area of 200.2 km², with agricultural land dominating, covering 75% of the area, while forest land constitutes 17%. The commune is significant within the county, encompassing 27.31% of its total area. The surrounding area includes the Narew River Valley and the Łomżyński Landscape Park, making it attractive to tourists. In 1967, two nature reserves were established: Bagno Wizna I and Bagno Wizna II, protecting unique peat bogs and their rich flora.
