wikipedia
The railway station in Sławno, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, has a rich history dating back to the 1860s, when construction began, and in 1869, connections to Gdańsk and Berlin were launched. Sławno became a significant transport hub in the region, handling both passenger and freight traffic. The station building, constructed in a brick style, is considered one of the architectural monuments of the region. Its distinctive features include preserved historic technical equipment and architectural details, with an electric pole from the 1930s standing in front of the building. After World War II, the station came under the management of the Polish State Railways (PKP) and was used for various purposes, including as a public bathhouse and PKP offices. In 1991, the connection to Darłowo was discontinued, only to be reinstated in 2005, but it was ultimately shut down in 2011 due to economic reasons. Between 2011 and 2012, the station underwent revitalization aimed at modernizing both the building itself and the surrounding area, including the construction of a playground and parking lot. The renovated facility, opened on January 5, 2012, became an example of alignment with the program for revitalizing railway stations in Poland. The Sławno railway station is an important element of local culture and history, serving not only as a transport hub but also as a symbol of the transformations the region has undergone over the years.
