wikipedia
The Regional Museum in Słupca, established in 1975, is an institution dedicated to documenting the history of the city and the Słupca County. Its origins date back to the interwar period when Mayor Tadeusz Parys began collecting historical artifacts related to the local heritage. The foundation for the museum was laid by an exhibition organized by the local high school, titled "Słupca in Bygone Centuries," which eventually evolved into the Regional Museum thanks to the efforts of Wojciech Sypniewski. The museum is housed in a building located on the Słupca market square, giving it a distinctive architectural charm, and its central location in the heart of the city fosters integration with the local community. Initially supervised by the National Museum in Poznań and later by the District Museum in Konin, the institution has become an important cultural hub in the region. The museum boasts a rich collection of exhibits, including ethnographic artifacts, insignia of local authority, military items from the periods of national uprisings, guild documents, and prehistoric urns. In addition to its permanent collections, the museum organizes painting exhibitions and temporary displays, actively participating in the cultural life of Słupca. This makes it a meeting place and a center for regional education. Interestingly, despite initial challenges, the museum has gained recognition and become a significant element of local cultural identity. Its activities support the promotion of the region’s history and traditions, while engaging events attract both residents and tourists, enriching their knowledge about Słupca and its surroundings.
