The Skąpe Commune, located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, in the Świebodzin County, has its seat in the village of Skąpe. The history of the commune dates back to pre-partition times, and between 1975 and 1998 it belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 182 km², of which 44% is agricultural land and 48% is forest land, highlighting its natural assets and landscape richness. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune was inhabited by 5,511 people. The demographic structure of the inhabitants is diverse, as reflected in the 2014 age pyramid. The commune comprises many village councils (sołectwa), such as Błonie, Cibórz, Darnawa, and Radoszyn. The commune also includes settlements without village council status, such as Złoty Potok or Przetocznica. Skąpe borders other communes, including Bytnica, Czerwieńsk, and Sulechów.
