wikipedia
Skołoszów is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in Jarosław County, with a rich history dating back at least to the 2nd–3rd century, when a settlement with hearths and pottery was discovered. Over time, the village, originally known as Skołosin, was granted by the Bishop of Przemyśl to Jan Biały in 1393 for his military merits. In the 15th century, Skołoszów became a suburb of Radymno, where a bishop's manor was built on Skołoszów's lands to defend the city against invasions. In the 17th century, the village experienced invasions by Swedes, Cossacks, and Hungarians, and in the 18th century, it was struck by plagues that decimated the population. After the Austrian partition in 1772, Skołoszów underwent social and infrastructural changes, including the construction of a railway line in 1860. In the 20th century, the village rebuilt itself after World War I, and during the interwar period, it had a significant Jewish population. A major event was the occupation of Skołoszów by German troops in 1939. After World War II, the village began to develop, with a new primary school and a sports hall built, and the Parish of Divine Mercy was established in 1991. Skołoszów is known for its sports activities and local culture, and in 2022, the Primary School was named after Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Notable residents, such as Mieczysław Jerzy Gamski and Tadeusz Oćwieja, highlight the cultural significance of this locality, which today is becoming a dynamically developing village with its own infrastructure.
