Przemyski County, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, is located in the eastern part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, with its seat in Przemyśl. The region boasts a rich history dating back to the era of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, when the county included towns such as Jarosław and Ustrzyki Dolne. Its history continued under the Przemyśl District in Austria and later as Przemyśl County in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria. Before 2021, the county was the only one in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship without any towns, a situation that changed when Dubiecko was granted town rights, followed by Bircza in 2024. In terms of urbanization, the county ranks 21st in Poland, with a low urbanization rate of just 2.5%. Przemyśl, known for its rich architecture including a castle, cathedral, and historic townhouses, is also an important cultural and historical center, renowned for its many traditions and cultural events. According to 2009 data, the county's population consists of residents from various urban-rural and rural municipalities. The administration of the county has been led by starosts representing various political parties, whose terms have shaped the region's history. Przemyśl County borders several other counties as well as the city of Przemyśl, making it an area of diverse socio-economic life. An interesting fact is that between 1856–1866 and 1954–1961, the Radymno County existed, encompassing areas of what are now Jarosław, Przemyśl, and Lubaczów counties. Thus, this region is not only a significant geographical point but also a place of considerable historical and cultural value.
