wikipedia
The Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Poznań, located at 8 Tadeusz Reytan Street in the Winogrady district, was built between 1930 and 1932 based on a design by Stefan Cybichowski. It was consecrated by Cardinal August Hlond on November 1, 1932. The church is characterized by a Neoclassical style and features a three-nave hall structure with an apse, its façade enhanced by a tall portico supported by six Ionic columns. In 1933, a 34-meter-high bell tower was erected next to the church, and before 1936, five stained-glass windows were installed, including the largest one in the presbytery, which was destroyed during World War II. Located near the Citadel, the church was severely damaged during the fighting in the winter of 1945. The interior is divided into three naves, and the main altar, destroyed by the Germans, originally contained a painting of Jesus Christ by Tadeusz Pruszkowski. The new interior furnishings, including side altars and an oak crucifix, date from the 1980s. Since 2017, the church has served as a stational place of prayer during Lent. Notable features include the painting *Our Lady, Refuge of Sinners*, created by Sister Magdalena Hekker in 1936, and two reliquaries, one of which—containing relics of St. Stanislaus Kostka—survived the war thanks to being hidden. The church grounds include a parish house and a grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. As a center of worship and urban religious life, the church has gained significance, enriching the history and culture of Poznań.
