wikipedia
Strachocina is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in the Sanok district, with a rich history dating back to 1369, when it was founded under German law. As a royal village, Strachocina was the site of interests for many notable nobles, including Jan Bobola, who played a significant role in its history. In the 18th century, the village passed through the hands of various leaseholders, and in the 19th century, it was inhabited by both Catholics and Jews. Strachocina also holds archaeological significance, as remains of the Corded Ware culture and Roman coins have been discovered in the area. Architecturally, it is distinguished by the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, built in the Neo-Gothic style on the site of earlier temples from the 14th and 15th centuries, which were repeatedly destroyed. The village also features a park on the site of the former Bobola manor and a cross commemorating Stefan Piotrowski. Culturally, the village is known as a place of worship for St. Andrew Bobola, the patron saint of Poland, and as the home of the Ludowy Klub Sportowy Górnik Strachocina. In Strachocina, visitors can admire a ski jump and participate in local events organized by the women's rural association. An interesting fact is the presence of a natural gas mine and the Historical Museum "Regionalna Izba Pamięci" founded by Stanisław Piotrowski. The village has undergone many changes over the years, and after World War II, its demographic and economic structure significantly transformed, with most residents finding employment in industry and services. Strachocina, with its rich history and traditions, remains an important point in the region, connecting the past with the present.
