Strzałkowo is a rural commune in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within Słupca County, with its administrative seat located in the town of the same name. Historically, from 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Konin Voivodeship. According to 2017 data, the commune is home to 10,372 residents and covers an area of 14.2 thousand hectares, 81% of which is agricultural land. Strzałkowo holds a significant place in the region's historical landscape; during the partitions of Poland, it was considered the "gateway to Europe" due to its proximity to major railway routes, attracting travelers from both the east and the west. Hotels and restaurants operated here, and local residents were involved in transporting passengers between Strzałkowo and Kutno. The commune was also the site of the famous Children's Strike of Września, and after World War II, the cultural differences between Strzałkowo and the nearby town of Słupca gradually faded. The town features a memorial site dedicated to the former border crossing. The commune also provides education through several primary schools, including the Public Primary School in Wólka and the School of the Greater Poland Insurgents. In terms of social activity, the Rural Housewives' Circles stand out, engaging local women in various projects. Strzałkowo and its surroundings are dotted with small villages, contributing to the region's cultural and social richness. Neighboring communes include Kołaczkowo, Powidz, and Września, fostering interlocal interactions.
