The Student Tent Base "Łopienka" is located in the picturesque valley of the village of Łopienka, in the Bieszczady Mountains, within the Cisna municipality. Managed by students from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences who are members of the Academic Tourist Club, the base boasts a rich history dating back to the 1960s, when a mountain shelter operated nearby under Łopiennik. In the following years, scouts established campsites in the area, contributing to the development of tourism in the region. In 1982, thanks to the efforts of the student club, a tourist base was established here, which continues to serve nature enthusiasts to this day. In 2005, the "Around Łopienka" nature and educational trail was marked out, enhancing the site's appeal to tourists.
The base is conveniently situated, surrounded by the peaks of Łopiennik, Jama, and Korbania, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking. It can be reached by public transport or on foot from nearby stops, and during the summer season, direct access to Polanki is available. The facility offers 30 sleeping places in tents and 50 spots on the campsite, providing accommodation in multi-person tents equipped with wooden bunks, blankets, and mattresses. Tourists can use the kitchen located under a spacious shelter, and there is also a designated campfire area on the premises. The lack of hot water and meal sales adds to its charm, encouraging self-sufficiency and a closer connection with nature.
"Łopienka" has become not only a place of rest but also of integration and discovery of the beauty of the Bieszczady Mountains, serving as an important cultural element in the region. Interestingly, the base blends scouting traditions with academic ones, fostering not only tourism skills but also values associated with living in harmony with nature.
