wikipedia
The Palace in Szczepowice is a Neo-Baroque building located in the village of Szczepowice, in the Kamieniec municipality. Constructed around 1880 by the Forstmann family, who were the village’s owners at the time, it stands as an example of monumental rural palace architecture in the Greater Poland region. Its design features a prominent entrance porch with a balcony, flanked by two concrete risalits with distinctive gables. In 1945, the palace was nationalized and subsequently served various functions, including as staff housing, a kindergarten, and a canteen. It underwent several renovations, with a major one carried out in 1965. After 1991, the building was abandoned and fell into disuse. In 1992, it was transferred to the resources of the Agricultural Property Agency of the State Treasury. On January 27, 1995, the palace was entered into the register of historical monuments. A year later, it was sold to private owners, Łucja and Jerzy Piechocki, who converted it into a conference and leisure center, which opened in 2002. The palace gained recognition when it received the General Conservator of Monuments award "Well-Maintained Monument" in 2003 for its restoration efforts in 2002. The surrounding landscape park, dating back to the second half of the 19th century, along with the remaining farm buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, enrich the historical context of the site, making it a valuable testament to the region's architectural and cultural heritage.
