wikipedia
Szczucin is a town in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, historically associated with rafting, agriculture, and crafts. The first mentions of the settlement date back to the 14th century, and Szczucin obtained town rights in 1780 but lost them in 1934. During the interwar period and World War II, the town's residents suffered numerous tragedies, including battles between Polish and German forces and crimes against the Jewish population. In 2009, the town regained its city status. Szczucin is home to valuable historical monuments, such as the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene with a Baroque interior, a Jewish cemetery, and a 20th-century manor associated with the Bogusz family. The town is known for the Museum of Road Building, unique on a national scale, which collects historical machinery and documents related to road construction. Sports are also developing in Szczucin, led by the LKS Wisła Szczucin club, and there is a sports hall offering a wide range of activities. The town also serves as a venue for cultural events and traditional fairs. Szczucin has convenient transport connections, including road links and inactive railway lines that may be reactivated in the future. The local climate is favorable for agriculture, further strengthening the area's culture and traditions.
