Tarlow

The commune of Tarłów, previously known as Ciszyca Górna, is located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Opatów County. From 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship. The administrative seat of the commune is the town of Tarłów, which, as of June 30, 2004, was inhabited by 5,805 people. The commune covers an area of 163.77 km², of which 69% is agricultural land and 22% is forested. The commune of Tarłów boasts a rich historical heritage; during the time of the Kingdom of Poland, it belonged to the Iłża County in the Radom Governorate. In 1870, the territory of the abolished town of Tarłów was incorporated into the commune, and during the interwar period, its name was changed from Ciszyca Górna to Tarłów in 1930, highlighting the significance of this place. The commune includes numerous villages, such as Bronisławów, Duranów, Kozłówek, and Wólka Tarłowska, reflecting the diversity of local communities.
